Our next door neighbours made a large snowman yesterday (he's about 5 feet tall) as we had a large amount of snow overnight. So when one of our customers purchased the Ariel and the Snowman card, we couldn't help but compare them.

Ours is by Trevor Mitchell and features children building a snowman watched by the rider of an Ariel motorcycle. At least this one isn't losing his nose!

We've got some great replica tin models of cars and other classic vehicles. If you have a penchant for yellow we can thoroughly recommend the Delboy- inspired Reliant 3 wheeler van. Looks a bit battered around the edges but such an icon.

The signwriting optimistically states London, Paris, New York, but with the state of this we don't think it would get very far. At least Reliant's are quite lightweight so could be pushed.

A British icon is the classic Mini (our Mini replica carries on the yellow theme). Very battered at the front (part of the design - it isn't damaged), this classic small car has seen better days.

Great collectable pieces, they're individually handcrafted and are remarkably lifelike.

A reminder though - they are not toys, just ornamental replicas.

Today we have a choice of car breakdown rescue services, but in the past we had the AA (Automobile Association) or RAC (Royal Automobile Club).

New to our website this week is 'What seems to be the trouble?' a familiar phrase to those who have had to call out a breakdown service. This card features the Morris 8 E car which has been stopped enroute in the mountains and has had to call out an AA patrolman.

The bleakness of the mountains seems to echo the aloneness we all feel when our car has let us down.

Here at The Motoring Gift Company we have a great collection of the work of Kevin Walsh, our favourite transport artist. Our love of his work started when we spotted a framed print in a shop window, the one of the little boy cleaning his car. It reminded Andy of himself when he was young and how he used to clean his own Austin J40. I eventually went back to the shop and bought this print which I gave him for Christmas, the first Christmas we had together. It's just a charming picture, which appeals to so many people. The original print now hangs in our lounge, but you can buy this as a greetings card for just £1.50.
